ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – R&D

A world leader in the design, manufacture and deployment of trace detection technologies and biological/chemical systems, has a challenging opportunity available.

Job Description

  • Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
  • Performs analog and digital design, simulations and implementation. Prior experience in chemical sensing and development of test instrumentation a plus.
  • Familiar with a variety of EE field’s concepts, practices, engineering design evaluations.
  • May develop a range of products.
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
  • Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems for other uses.

  • Must be knowledgeable in analog and digital design, simulations and implementation.
  • Candidate ideally would have previously developed products that were brought to the marketplace.
  • Experienced user of electronic test equipment such as a DMM, Oscilloscope, Network Analyzer, Logic Analyzer, and/Cable Testers and with Orcad schematic layout, capture, and board routing.
  • Embedded systems programming and/or PC Windows-based programming is helpful.
  • Prior experience in chemical sensing and development of test instrumentation a plus.
  • Advanced degree in engineering and 2 to 8 years of experience in the field or equivalent in electrical design experience.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Must have attention to details and documentation.
  • Must have ability to multitask.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at different sites.
  • Must be self-guided and an active team player.

Desirable Items:

  • Familiarity with PSpice or similar electrical circuit simulation software.
  • Experience with LabView object oriented programming in a test environment.
