Sr. Geophysicist

We are a global seismic solutions company who provides advanced acquisition equipment, software, planning, and seismic processing services to the oil & gas industry.

Due to unprecedented growth, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Geophysicist position to join a dynamic team of seismic imaging professionals interested using the latest technology to solve the toughest geophysical problems. We are looking for unique individuals who are ready to take on the most challenging problems.

Description:

Provide responsive, innovative and high quality petroleum geoscience input, analysis and advice to the Interpretive Velocity Modelling Team of the Geoscience Technology function. The focus of the position is the construction, calibration and parameterization of seismic velocity models. The position will involve the timely and effective provision of technical support in the deployment of new technologies in areas such as:

  • Integration of seismic, wellbore geophysics, wireline log and pore pressure data, inclusive of attribute analysis, uncertainty assessment, and anisotropy parameterization.
  • Depth/ velocity calibration of seismic volumes, including checkshot and sonic data analysis.
  • Development of seismically based surface and volume stratigraphic model frameworks.
  • Construction of 3D velocity models for seismic imaging and anisotropy studies.
  • Collaboration with Geophysical Technology Team regarding redepthing technologies, including de/remigration of image volumes.
  • Collaboration with geoscientists and engineers to provide input to well planning and pore pressure prediction.

Education / Training:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Geoscience or related discipline with over 10 years experience.
  • Master’s of Science in Geoscience or related discipline with over 5 year’s experience.

Experience:

Relevant experience according to the following:

Highly Desirable

  • Strong technical background as an exploration/development geophysicist in diverse geographical areas.
  • Highly competent user of industry interpretation workstations and mapping software
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven prospect generator.

Desirable/Beneficial

  • Strong background in interfacing with geophysical processors especially in efforts to solve complex subsalt imaging/positioning problems, including experience with anisotropic velocity fields
  • Practical experience in deepwater depositional environments is desirable.
