Sr. Project Developer

A Wind Energy firm who emulates high ethical, scientific and environmental standards in all of their business practices is looking for a Sr. Project Developer.

Description:

This position will be responsible for many aspects of development of wind powered generation projects, and moving projects from project identification through financial closing and through start of construction. This person will manage and direct internal and external resources and perform tasks required to develop greenfield independent wind farm projects.

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Spearhead effort to analyze and acquire potential wind project sites.
  2. Hands-on, day-to-day aspects of the Company’s wind farm early stage development activities, including:
    • Site prospecting, assessment, & selection.
    • Development and maintenance of site reporting and tracking documents, and budgeting.
    • Negotiation, contracting and management of key consultants or development subcontractors.
    • Liaison with consultants, land owners and local communities.
    • Acquisition of permits. And represent the company if necessary in public landowner or county meetings.
    • Assist with acquisition of options, leases, and easements from landowners
    • Preparation of inputs for the financial assessment of projects.
    • Support negotiation of interconnection, EPC and power purchase agreements
  3. Help to ensure effective liaison with other company departments and a smooth hand over from development to construction for successful projects.
  4. Help to ensure compliance with the company’s internal procedures.
  5. Ability to stay current regarding changing regulatory requirements.
  6. Ensures Quality and Environmental procedures are maintained.
  7. Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.
  8. Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; master’s degree a plus.
  • Five to fifteen years of work experience, preferably in power generation, environmental, or related field.
  • Well-developed project management skills.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy.
  • Good interpersonal, written, analytical, quantitative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand a variety of subjects related to wind energy, including meteorology, ecology, transmission, public relations, public policy, sales, civil and electrical engineering, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of the permitting process for major infrastructure development at both State and Federal levels.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint and proven ability to learn new software programs.
  • Have excellent knowledge of transmission application processes. Monitor System Impact, Short Circuit, Stability, and System

Upgrade studies

  • Be able to manage multiple projects in multiple locations against tight timeframes and budgets.
  • Self-starter and the ability to work well in a relatively unstructured work environment with little supervision.
  • Must be a team player and be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.
  • Employees must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess an appropriate valid driver’s license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel if necessary.
