Senior Quality Engineer

Our client supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets and is committed to operational excellence and world class processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • The Sr. Quality Engineer will be responsible in assisting the Quality Manager in the creation of plant quality processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • This individual will cover functions as directed by the Quality Manager impacting the quality management system, Kaizen, manufacturing quality, inspection and customer quality.
  • Responsible for planning, leading, and assisting the site staff in the execution of the established continuous improvement strategy through the use of strategic implementation of metrics, tools and training.
  • Follows a disciplined approach to seek out and eliminate quality problems at all levels of the organization.
  • Utilizes a roadmap of continuous improvement for the organization by establishing priorities, methods and strategies for implementation using data to both guide the process as well as monitor the result.
  • Analyzes failures, determines cause, determines responsibility, and initiates corrective action.
  • Reviews test procedures (functional, acceptance/qualification) for completeness with regard to technical content, test equipment and test data; provide assistance to inspection test stations.
  • Resolves problems with the company’s suppliers.
  • Participates in program and design reviews.
  • Acts as quality interface for selected customers.
  • Maintain metrics on quality system performance.

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Quality, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 + years of experience as a Quality Engineer in an Aerospace environment, or in a similar manufacturing setting. Direct experienced dealing with Aerospace primes and integrators (i.e.) Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer and UTAS
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models; Knowledge of the characteristics of metals, chemical processes, electricity and other elements.
  • An understanding of change management; broad business knowledge, knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software and machine shop
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and statistical software (ie. Minitab or equivalent)
  • Education focusing on process improvement utilizing OpEx and Lean tools/methodologies; and education in the following
  • OpEx tools (or plan to complete training for required certification within twelve-month period of entering position): Structured Problem Solving, 5S, Mistake-Proofing and process capability tools required to drive the continuous improvement culture into the organization.
  • Some travel may be required.
