UTILITY ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR

We are one of the largest Solar Energy Service Providers for commercial, government and utility customers. We are currently seeking a Utility Engineering Supervisor for our
Austin, TX location.

This individual will be responsible for managing the design and engineering of utility solar photovoltaic projects. The utility project engineer (UPE) will provide project management and design consultation for utility scale projects on a daily basis, and will be responsible for all technical aspects of the job. The UPE will be the technical expert for electrical, structural, civil, and other fields of design aspects to ensure engineering integrity, as well as successful approval processes with associated stakeholders. The UPE is also responsible for maintaining a project schedule and successful execution of the project, meeting all necessary milestones for each project. The UPE will report directly to the Director of Engineering and provide regular updates and reports as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visit sites to collect information required to complete the design of large-scale solar systems.
  • Oversee the development of all designs to be sure they that all local code requirements
  • Obtain design approvals from sub-contractors.
  • Supervise drafters creating design drawings for all projects.
  • Submit drawings to the appropriate agencies in order to obtain the necessary permits.
  • Coordinate invoices for material for each project based on the final approved design.
  • Provide technical to staff
  • Perform employee reviews, interview potential candidates, and adding resources to further develop the department.
  • Integrate new processes and methods to increase productivity for the department.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.
  • 7-10 years experience working in the solar energy industry.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledgeable in standard applied energy codes.
  • Strong knowledge of solar system design and optimizing system components for energy production.
  • Experience working with subcontractors.
  • Some estimating experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and structural design components.
  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting software or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office programs, specifically Word and Excel.

Experience designing voltage equipment preferred.
