Summary

This position provides overall financial guidance and direction in the areas of banking, auditing, and organizational budgeting. The position acts as the financial lead with regard to acquisitions, capital management, financial analysis, and directs the firm’s accounting practices. In addition, the Vice President of finance serves as the senior finance team member for the company and has significant interaction with company leaders. This position counsels management in the financial business planning of the firm and advises on financial policymaking with regard to firm financial planning.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Ensures regular communication of financial standing to relevant firm leaders.
  • Communicates regularly with key business leaders to ensure goal clarity for consistent financial results.
  • Collaborates with Managing Principals, Principals in Charge, and Senior Project Managers to assist in applicable financial matters.
  • Collaborates with Managing Principals, Principals in Charge, COO, and CEO, to discuss key management issues and/or opportunities to enhance the firm’s profitability.
  • Demonstrates the ability to represent the firm at key events and various forums.
  • Develops effective communication networks within the firm and the market.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Provides opportunities for training and career enhancing activities for staff, and encourages the sharing of ideas, and best practices.
  • Lead a team of financial professionals to perform a broad range of financial activities. Motivate, mentor, develop and coach financial team by building strength within the finance function. Work to develop “best-in-class” center of excellence for finance within the organization.
  • Lead the initiative to develop operating budgets and financial analysis / tools, including budgets, capital allocation, and financial and operating metrics that can be used to better align accountability and drive improved results.
  • Provides cost and financial analysis to support firm leaders to achieve financial targets. Including financial planning, reporting and forecast modeling. Provides analysis of all capital investment, including internal/external investment, and cost reduction/expansion management programs which impact the business.
  • Leads by example with direct reports in objective goal setting, regular communication and feedback, development activities and appropriate reward / recognition. Ensures all finance employees create and implement meaningful development plans and complete performance reviews on time.

Managing Change

  • Manages change in the firm’s accounting department resulting from legislative/legal changes.
  • Oversee staff and modifies reporting structure to match adjustments made to firm conditions.
  • Develops innovative financial strategies to meet the changing competitive environment to enhance firm profitability.

Productivity

  • Works with the company Controller and oversees preparation of month-end reports, including review of original reconciliation work produced by various departments to ensure all balances have been accurately reconciled and appropriately classified.
  • Analyze, presents, and monitors financial results, providing clear recommendations for corrective financial actions that must be taken.
  • Analyze current operating and financial results and forecasts, and makes recommendations to benefit future performance trends and business issues facing the firm, which will serve as the action agenda for senior management throughout company business.
  • Oversees the distribution of timely financial information to assist in making key financial strategic decisions.

Quality

  • Oversees the accuracy and quality of financial budgeting and reporting.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with both external clients and internal company leadership.
  • Produces quality work in all areas of responsibility.

Technical

  • Directs and manages the financial programs and supporting information systems of the firm, to include budgeting, receipt of revenue, expenditure of funds, and conservation of assets.
  • Oversees the approval and processing of revenue, reserves, department budgets, and the maintenance of accounts and ledgers, ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations, bank covenants, and firm policies.
  • Coordinates the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, financial reports, special analysis, and information reports; presents recommendations for programmatic and fiscal changes to company management leadership.
  • Develop implements, interprets, and coordinates the application of finance, accounting, billing, and audit procedures.
  • Provides strategic consultation to senior leadership on financial issues, analysis, projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue and expense analysis.
  • Provides guidance to managers and company leadership in planning initiatives, through management and corporate information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Supervises financial personnel, including work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes personnel action recommendations; and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Develops and directs the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems, as appropriate to meet the objectives of the financial organization.

Education:

The successful candidate will have a B.S. in Finance/Accounting.

Experience:

  • 10-15 yrs experience in finance, financial reporting, financial analysis, budget preparation, employee development/coaching skills, team building, and analytical decision making, with strong understanding of GAAP accounting standards.

Skills:

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision.
  • Must have knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
  • Must have knowledge of software to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections.
