Our Client is a global leader in the wind energy industry and its employees have been providing technical services to the industry for more than 20 years. We are seeking an Executive Manager of Tower Services to lead a team of experienced Construction Managers and Project Coordinators to provide client support in all aspects of the specification, procurement, construction, maintenance, and asset management of wind measurement instruments and towers (“met towers”). The position is based in Seattle and we are specifically seeking an individual who has tower construction experience and excellent people management skills. Job Duties:

  • Manage personnel and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ensure activities of employees and subcontractors are conducted in accordance with company safety plan and technical requirements.
  • Support the ongoing activities of the Tower Services group.
  • Manage work flow, schedules, budget, and client satisfaction.
  • Serve as a member of the company’s senior management team and provide strategic and tactical input to guide enterprise-level decision making.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and manage client relationships.
  • Develop proposals and budgets; recommend contracts for execution.

Business development:

  • Maintain an understanding of the industry needs and how the company can serve those needs and suggest additional services or changes in service so that the company plays a role in advancing the state of the art in the wind industry.
  • Establish long-term customer relationships with a focus on repeat business.
  • Develop successful collaboration and coordination with associated entities and other Business Units for all issues related to sales and positioning the company in North America.
  • Establish protocols to ensure timeliness and quality of work product within group.
  • Grow the organization by expanding services currently offered and developing new services while staying within budgets.
  • Review technical reports to ensure they meet client and company needs.
  • Develop training programs to train new team members and broaden the skills of existing team members.
  • Share and continuously develop knowledge and best practices.
  • Participate in industry events and ensure that the company and service offerings are well known and well respected in the wind industry.
  • Recruit new employees and act to retain existing employees.
  • Recruit, qualify, and help oversee subcontractors.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and client contracts.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering or construction management; or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience within the construction or engineering consulting industry (preferably with the construction of towers) with experience managing a team of people required.
  • Prior Management Team and/or executive experience required.
  • Knowledge of utility operations, electric transmission, and construction practices.
  • At least 5 years experience as a consultant or direct client interaction in a client services setting.
  • Experience within the wind energy industry preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Advanced project management skills required.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with diverse people – clients and co-workers.
  • Develop business cases and data-based proposals to support internal decisions.
  • Ability to be accountable for financial and technical performance of the section.
  • Flexibility and adaptability – issues and tasks may change quickly.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (principally Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).
