Assistant VP Human Resources

Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support to the Vice President, including drafting and managing correspondence and communications, scheduling appointments and managing Vice President’s calendar, coordinating travel arrangements, compiling various reports, maintenance of records and other documentation, project management, and coordinating special events
  • may serve as personal assistant to the Vice President
  • provides leadership for all departmental functions to include planning, directing, and evaluating departmental operations
  • makes arrangements for legislators, dignitaries, potential employees, etc. visiting our campus and welcomes them on behalf of the Vice President
  • conducts research and gathers all necessary information for the Vice President prior to meetings and events
  • tracks, anticipates, and prepares for upcoming deadlines, events, and agenda items that require action by the Vice President
  • coordinates committee meetings, prepares agendas, and organizes and track agenda items
  • serves as liaison and point of contact for the office, including providing support to departments reporting to the Vice President
  • coordinates work flow of office staff and may be responsible for the selection, hiring, and training of office personnel and/or Student Workers
  • identifies and recommends improvements for administrative procedures and/or makes evaluative judgments in implementing changes as appropriate to administrative procedures
  • assists in the resolution of complex, highly sensitive, and confidential administrative matters
  • participates in training and professional development sessions
  • may represent the Vice President on numerous committees in his/her absence
  • may lead or serve as an active member on various committees and meetings
  • serves on various State, local, University, and System-wide committees
  • performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as VP of HR or other senior HR role
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation
  • Deep knowledge of HR functions (talent management, recruitment etc.)
  • Ability to use metrics and analytics
  • Knowledge of local and international labor law
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Aptitude in communicating and public speaking
  • Well-organized with excellent leadership qualities
  • BSc/BA in business, HR, social sciences or related field; MSc/MA/MBA is preferable
  • Certification (e.g. PHR/SPHR) is nice-to-have
