We are seeking an experienced Design Build Manager for an exciting $330 million dollar design build. This project will lessen traffic around the airport by providing passengers and employees additional transportation options to access airport facilities. The ideal candidates must be driven, enthusiastic and want to establish themselves with a stable and growing company.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Design Build Manager is the day to day lead over the three facets of Design Build (DB) and Private-Public Partnerships (PPP) procurements; Design, Technical Proposal, Estimate. The focus is on organizing a team towards a common goal, identifying and resolving issues, eliciting the team to develop a win strategy, developing and executing a delivery strategy after award, clearly communicating the plan and status of the project, understanding owner requirements and representing interests of the joint venture partners. This position will be responsible for managing the design on behalf of the joint venture and will report to the Project Sponsor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee and manage budget, schedule and compliance responsibilities for the procurement of DB projects.
  • Actively participates in the design and execution of project safety and quality control activities.
  • Assists in the bid package development, pre-qualification activities, and budget preparation.
  • Lead a team in delivering a successful proposal working closely with and under the direction of a project sponsor.
  • If successful bid, continue on the project to manage the design development, serving as interface between design and construction and responsible for design schedule and budget performance.
  • Work with preconstruction team to solicit, bid and analyze potential DB and PPP project.
  • Work closely with a variety of interested parties during the design phase of the project to ensure constructability of deliverables
  • Work closely with construction management resources to monitor and drive subcontractor performance (safety, quality, schedule, and budget) during installation
  • Analyzes and presents project delivery approaches, develops alternative approaches and facilitates implementation.
  • Assist with developing new business opportunities through exceptional project execution
  • Actively manage conflicts with stakeholders
  • The DB Manager is expected to work in a project office while assigned to a project and a corporate office between assignments.
  • Maintain and improve owner relations and support the construction manager.
  • May assume responsibility for project staffing.
  • Will be responsible for creating opportunities to increase project profit and reduce schedule.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience with managing Design Build projects between $150 million and $500 million
  • Broad understanding of industry and construction means and methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work with multiple project teams simultaneously
  • Excellent budget, negotiation and problem solving skills as well as strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, budgeting, supervision, and client relationships
  • Ability to interface with a variety of technical and business personnel with courtesy, tact and diplomacy
  • Strong decision making skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of related design build experience on heavy infrastructure projects required
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent preferred.
  • Civil, transportation, structural, and geotechnical design and construction experience is ideal Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates outside of the local area on a case-by-case basis.
