Our client is a manufacturer of instruments, kits and reagents in the global nanomedicine market providing tools for drug development and cell-specific delivery to study, diagnose and treat disease. They allow scientists to rapidly develop novel nanomedicine drug candidates for pre-clinical testing.  Their Transfection Reagents use nanomedicine technology to deliver genetic materials in primary cells vitro and in vivo, enabling disease researchers to easily study gene function in high-value models of disease. Our client sells its products to leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and leading academic institutions in over 20 countries worldwide.

Position Summary

We are seeking an Inside Technical Sales Representative to cover key accounts in the Eastern Region of North America.  The successful candidate will identify new sales opportunities through proactive identification and qualification of sales leads using telephone and email.  The Inside Sales Representative will be responsible for converting qualified leads to new opportunities and coordinating the successful hand-off of leads to our Field Sales team. The Inside Technical Sales Rep will mainly correspond with clients on the East Coast and will be expected to adjust their work hours as required to be available during regular business hours Eastern Time.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Meet and/or exceed quarterly and annual sales lead targets through the development and execution of a region and account-specific sales plan.
  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold phone calls, email messages and other direct marketing methods.
  • Prospect research accounts, identify key players and generate interest for further engagement.
  • Actively generate leads by contacting customers from campaign listings and introduce them to our client’s product and service offerings in an informative and attractive way.
  • Qualify leads and route sales opportunities to our client’s Regional Sales Managers for further development and closure.
  • Consistently log and record each-and-every outreach made in Salesforce.com, producing regular activity reports as requested. Ensure that all customer communications are recorded accurately.
  • Generate market interest by executing Product and Segment Marketing activities such as: call projects, surveys and campaigns.

Qualifications and Experience

  • M.S. in a life sciences discipline is required. A Ph.D. and strong nanoparticle formulation background is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a nanoparticle formulation and drug delivery is required.
  • 2+ years of proven inside sales experience in the Life Science tools space/systems sales with a track record of over-achieving targets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.  Excellent written and verbal skills.  Ability to communicate with life science researchers.
  • Strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day.
  • Experience working with Salesforce.com or similar CRM.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with high level of confidence. Strong listening, probing, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starting with solid follow-through and multi-tasking capabilities.
