Construction Superintendent

Direct and monitor the progress of construction activities while maintaining safety, quality and schedule requirements.

  1. Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  2. Create a plan from the beginning of construction to completion of the project.
  3. Accurately project construction activities and site logistic plan for scheduling purposes.
  4. Comprehend Owner contract obligations.
  5. Understand the project budget buyout.
  6. Verify trade contractors have signed contracts with current Certificate of Insurance.
  7. Equip project site with approved signage, per policy.
  8. Maintain a detailed Microsoft Project schedule from preliminary contract schedule including Critical Path.
  9. Update and upload to project management software on weekly basis.
  10. Provide 3-week look-ahead for all meetings.
  11. Maintain communication with trade contractors and coordinate daily activities.
  12. Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate meetings with Individual Subcontractor Pre-Start, Foreman, Building
    Enclosure, and MEP Coordination
  13. Perform full review of contract documents (i.e. drawings, details of drawings, scopes of work, specifications,
    post-bid meeting minutes, bid clarifications, permits, etc.).
  14. Inspect all construction work to verify all trade contractors are in compliance with the current project
    documents and program standards.
  15. Take frequent photographs to document work in place and items to be covered.
  16. Maintain a complete set of current documents including but not limited to bulletins and addenda.
  17. Maintain project as-built drawings.
  18. Coordinate scheduling of testing consultants and municipal inspections for construction activities and monitor
    the accuracy and timeliness of test reporting. Upload reports to project management software.
  19. Actively manage & maintain safety on the site.
  20. Immediately correct or halt any observed safety violations.
  21. Monitor Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan and actively ensure compliance on a daily basis.
  22. Obtain required reports from designated Storm Water Operator
  23. Investigate and submit required Incident Reports
  24. Create Submittal Log in project management software. Process, track, and distribute submittals, as required.
  25. Verify correct submittals and shop drawings are being followed and materials are correct prior to installation.
  26. Collect Letters of Compliance. Review for accuracy against project documents and update Submittal Log with
    pertinent information.
  27. Process, track, and distribute Requests for Information (RFI) in project management software
  28. Coordinate additional work in the field after communication with and authorization from Project Manager.
  29. Facilitate creation of Owner, Architect, and Engineer Punch List. Set-up and track completion of listed items
    including Owner signoff.
  30. Provide all necessary field documentation for close-out.
  31. Preform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) to five (5) years equivalent work experience or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management
  • Minimum 4 years managing subcontractors required
  • Must be comfortable with heights
  • Certifications in First Aid/CPR required
  • Certification in Storm Water Management required
  • 10 hours in OSHA training required
  • Must have the ability to travel extensively throughout the Midwest region
  • Knowledge of CSI format preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, blue prints and floor plans
  • Proficient in using the Internet to research information, as well as MS Outlook, Project, Excel and Word
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other team members of the organization
  • Work with Senior Management to track and report job progress
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Superintendents are representatives and should appear as the manager of the project. Personal attire should be representative of this role and should include, clothing in good condition, current Rockwear preferred
