Lead Architectural Designer / Design Principal

We are a 45 member California architectural design firm with a mature 20 year old Studio and recognized as one of the Top 12 in Silicon Valley, seeking candidates interested in this unique opportunity for professional growth.

If you are a Senior Lead Designer with a minimum of 10 years experience interested in an excellent career decision to join our successful studio and grow with us in San Jose, we want to meet you and explore this further.

Must have project experience in one or more of the following building types: specifically education; K-12, Upper Ed.

The primary duties of the Lead Architectural Designer/Design Principal will be:

• Develop project concepts and follow through with the complete design creation. Should have production and design experience in preparation of architectural documents and specifications.
• Good design skills, potential and the ability to lead a group in design related work are of great importance.
• Independently coordinate the design effort throughout all phases of a project.
• Establish client and internal meetings and participates in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct master planning, schematic design, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review architectural documents to assure design intent implementation.
• Develop company recognition within the community for superior quality design.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture
• 10 years minimum experience working in an architecture office.
• Project experience in one or more of the following building types: specifically education; K-12, Upper Ed.
• Must be a Registered Architect.
• Excellent communication skills and presentation ability.
• Position requires a full understanding of team design and planning, and the candidate must be able to leverage skills, provide strong mentoring and career development to staff and be a company design resource nationwide, as well as locally.
