METALURGIST / FAILURE ANALYST

The company serves the oil, gas, and chemical industries of the Gulf Coast and around the world with:

• failure analysis
• corrosion testing
• material selection and specifications
• Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS)
• field and onsite services
• expert witness services in litigation and arbitration cases, and
• one of only a handful of laboratories offering hydrogen sulfide testing services—or “sour services”—in the country

We are an independent materials testing and consulting laboratory, seeking a Metallurgist experienced in the demands of the oil and gas industry for project consulting and laboratory failure analysis. Candidate must be familiar with relevant API, ASTM, ASME and NACE specifications governing engineering alloys used in oil and gas exploration, production, transmission and processing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in failure analysis and have knowledge and experience in the following specialties:

• Material selection of engineering alloys
• Testing and inspection practices for plate, tubular products, forgings and castings
• Corrosion mechanisms and corrosion control practices
• Fracture mechanisms and fracture control of engineering alloys
• Interpretation of metallographic evidence

Candidate will have a minimum B. S. in metallurgy or materials science, or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of industrial or academic experience. P. E. certification is desirable.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
