Construction Manager – San Francisco Area, CA

Summary:

Direct activities of workers involved with implementing environmental construction projects by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Continuously utilize industry contracts to secure project bidding opportunities; knowledge in the bid service, such as Onvia or Bid Ocean, to identify potential bidding opportunities, and assisting in cultivating / developing business relationships.
Conduct site visits, cost estimating and review of project plans and specifications to support proposals, and preparation of project schedules using MS Project.
Process basic knowledge in cost engineering principles and methods.
Manage construction projects, including supervisory and engineering personnel.
Assemble members of organization (i. e., site superintendents, foreman, operators, laborers, and other workers) prior to project start up. Manage the craft (operators and laborers) site-hire bench.
Procure tools, equipment, and materials to be delivered to project to conform to work schedules.
Utilize industry network of T&D facilities, quarries for soil back-fill, and truckers.
Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpret specifications, and coordinate various phases of construction to prevent delays.
Oversee supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve grievances within work force.
Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications.
Prepare or review daily reports on progress, materials used, and costs. ts into financial accounting system.
Conduct construction activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
10 years of industry-related experience.
40-hour Hazwoper certification and 8-hour Hazwoper Refresher.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to effectively interact with clients, craft-staff, technical staff, and subcontractors.
Demonstrated construction management experience.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to project sites.
Proficient with MS Office products, with emphasis on MS Excel and MS Project.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Construction Management, or equivalent.
15+ years of industry-related experience.
Environmental / Remediation construction experience.
Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations handling and management including levels of PPE.
Interest and ability to mentor superintendents and foreman.
Effective interpersonal skills with demonstrated issue resolution experience.
