Director of Operations

Candidate can be based in either So. CA or TX.

Overview: This is an executive level position with great developmental opportunities. The position requires a high level of autonomy to deliver results. This position requires a deep understanding of data mining, an ability to perform financial analysis and develop forecasts. It is key that this information can be converted into a polished presentation format and delivered verbally. This position requires a person to be comfortable in the field with construction crews and in an executive office setting.

Operations:

The Director of Operations is responsible for the efficient and cost wise delivery of services for the region. This includes:

  • Manage the delivery of services for multiple remote service centers as they deliver existing and new revenue.
  • Monitor ongoing operations, approve expenditures for same and gauge effective use of assets to achieve company goals.
  • Provide support for direct reports serving in the role as Service Center Managers. Each manager employs between 8-10 people in their service center and monitors the work of 7 to 13 sub contract crews in the field.
  • Provide management oversight to the Field Inspectors monitoring the quality and progress of each subcontractor project.
  • Must possess the ability to solve problems, understand technical drawings, coating system specifications, equipment expenditures and work crew timelines.

Financial: The Director will be responsible for the Profit and Loss of the Service Centers and Operations department.

This includes:

  • The Director is responsible for developing an annual budget for revenue, direct and indirect cost associated with the operation of these revenue centers.
  • Provides detailed forecast information of work in progress and work to be completed to the Vice President monthly.
  • Develop long term plan for CAPEX and future manning for delivery of a growing line of products and services.

Operational Efficiency:

A key component to this role is to champion efficiency in the region. This can include:

  • Work closely on outside or inside consulting projects to maximize efficiency in operations. Lean Six Sigma experience can be valuable.
  • Optimize the utilization of all resources to maximize operating efficiency and minimize costs for all service offerings.

Range of work: The Director will be required to travel to job sites, make sales presentations and attend executive meetings across the US. The expected level of travel is approximately 30 percent, but may vary.

Safety:

A key component to this role is to champion safety in the region. This can include:

  • Obtain a 30 hour OSHA safety card.
  • Be a visible proponent of safety and develop a culture of safety in the regional workforce.
  • Work closely with Corporate Safety Department to ensure region is in compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and Company Policy.

Excellent Salary and Benefits package

  • BS Industrial Engineering or equivalence in education and experience. Other disciplines with process engineer experience will be of interest, as well.
  • Lean Six Sigma trained or similar process improvement and efficiency training preferred.
  • Project management experience from conception to completion preferred.
  • EIT or PE would be a plus
