Legal Assistant

Firm seeks an extraordinarily intelligent, reliable, and motivated assistant for its Legal department. This position is designed to assist a nine-person legal team with the organizational and administrative elements of its expanding and diverse activities, including the firm’s private equity, venture capital, and asset management activities, and will afford opportunities for considerable responsibility in an environment where casual dress and informality are the rule. It will also involve significant interaction with other groups in the firm.

The position initially will include the following types of responsibilities:

  • organizing and maintaining company documents for legal entities in the company and documents related to investments made by such entities (both in hard and electronic formats);
  • working with outside law firms and other service providers to form new entities and to update registrations for existing entities;
  • helping the Legal department prepare contracts, resolutions, guidelines, policies, and other documents;
  • coordinating with individuals in the firm to finalize and execute documents;
  • compiling and maintaining spreadsheets of legal information, and acting as a resource to the firm with respect to these records;
  • supporting and coordinating various ongoing and periodic Legal department projects.

Salary Commensurate with Experience. Excellent Benefit Package.

The successful candidate will be extremely intelligent, highly organized, reliable, and a hard worker. He or she must also have an obsessive concern for detail and the ability to take initiative on projects, to work with a fair amount of autonomy, and to thrive under pressure.

The position will require superior oral and written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is useful but not required. Experience or some familiarity with legal matters is critical, though prior paralegal experience or training is not required. Some background in finance is a strong plus.
