Project Manager – Contract Furniture

Act as single on-site, point of contact, and liaison between internal project team, client and third-party installation team. This position is responsible for all aspects of the installation of Knoll systems furniture, case goods, and ancillary furniture from the beginning of installation to final client walk-through. The Project Manager plans, coordinates and oversees all tasks related to the installation, and manages installers performance, quality, schedule, labor quoting/budget, and customer satisfaction.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Verifies site conditions including but not limited to: field measuring, inventory of existing product, paths of travel etc.
  • Monitor shipping, delivery and installation schedules based on construction completion and move-in dates
  • Requests labor quotes from third part installation companies
  • Creates installation schedules using Microsoft Project
  • Locates power and data in the field as needed
  • Resolves product/installation issues in a timely manner
  • Monitors progress of entire installation from beginning to end
  • Communicates daily with internal project team, lead installers, and clients
  • Manages and tacks change orders relative to labor/project scope
  • Coordinates and works with general contractors and sub-contractors to maintain installation schedule
  • Attends construction meetings when required
  • Tracks billable PM time
  • Assists in the curation of Standards Binders when requested by team
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced PM’s when needed
  • Assists Team Lead in departmental training initiatives
  • Other duties assigned by Team Lead
  • Some travel outside of California may be required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or BA from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eight years of experience in furniture project management, or in an equivalent industry, i.e. construction management
  • Proficient in learning business operating systems
  • Experience using MS Project and PlanGrid is ideal
  • time management/prioritization skills (must be able to execute multiple projects, simultaneously)
  • Excellent written + verbal communication skills
  • Encompass the spirit of teamwork + collaboration
  • Have a passion for furniture
  • Available to work evenings and weekends
  • Driven, problem solver is a plus
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle or transportation
