Project Manager – Marine Dredging

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager in the Long Beach, CA area. The Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of marine dredging projects. This includes providing technical/operational expertise to the Bid Team, participating in the preparation of the proposal, labor and resource planning, scheduling, generate and review project requirements, take project to completion and final approval.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation of proposal and bid packages
  • Project scheduling using Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Work with construction team to develop project plan that meets client requirements and timeline
  • Overall responsibility for successful execution of the job with support from all divisions of the company
  • Forecast budget and track expenditures
  • Serve as primary contact with client

  • Demonstrated knowledge of marine construction specifications.
  • Ability to identify and anticipate task sequence conflicts

  • Ability to effectively manage projects that vary in nature and scope
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Strong negotiation skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance, but know when to ask for help
  • Confidence to initiate correspondence with crewmembers and staff
  • Work outside as well as on board a vessel.
  • Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health.

 Physical Aptitudes

  • Must meet fit for duty requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
  • The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
  • Must be able to climb onto tugs, barges and up and down ladders

TESTS, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:

  • Five years of project management experience in dredging projects preferred
  • Experience in managing clamshell dredging projects and hydrographic surveying required
  • USACE QC certification a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software a plus
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD desirable
  • Working Knowledge of HyPack required
  • Ability to operate tablets (Microsoft Windows)
  • Valid Drivers License with clean driving record required

TASKS AND DUTIES:

  • Primary point of contact for client
  • Work with bid coordinator to gather customer requirements and specifications
  • Provide technical expertise to the Bid Team to assist in the preparation of proposals
  • Jointly develop project plan and regularly track project milestones
  • Identify potential conflicts or delays in the project timeline and work to resolve
  • Manage resources needed to successfully complete the project
  • Track project expenditures and report to the Controller
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies
