Reconstruction Estimator – Commercial/Residential

We are currently seeking a Reconstruction Estimator in the Burbank, CA area. This candidate must have experience in the commercial industry and/or residential.

Duties

  • Must evaluate large commercial losses to determine work to be performed (24- 48 hr. initial reports).
  • Must negotiate final estimate approval with insurance adjuster and write an accurate contract with customer with a payment schedule.
  • Must pull building permits and gather all the necessary documentation to obtain such permits.
  • Must fill out Sub-Contractor’s contracts for every out-sourced job where sub-contractor was hired.
  • Will manage and schedule new signed jobs including subcontractors on the jobsite.
  • Must monitor new jobs to ensure efficient operation and timely completion of the job.
  • Must be able to estimate the value of a project & generate after tax budgets for licensed and insured sub-contractors only.
  • Estimator will always target large loss accounts by establishing an approved vendor’s network with the city and the county as well as with other locations.
  • Will proudly represent company while stablishing and maintaining a good business relationship with insurance adjusters, insurance agents and general contractors.
  • Must communicate with facility managers and insurance adjusters and serve as a liaison between the customer and insurance carrier and company.
  • Must manage all the restoration/construction projects from start to finish while maintaining profitability and minimizing business interruption for the customer.
  • Will perform early restoration site visit during the water mitigation process.
  • Will keep Customer updated on work progress to avoid any miscommunication.
  • Must ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner and all safety rules are followed.
  • Must perform periodically visit job sites and customers to check on job progress, answer questions from customers and project managers and solve in-the-field problems as they arise. The frequency of such job site visits will be at your discretion as some customers will require daily visits and some others not at all.
  • Must be able to identify any additional work and document it to write a supplement. Supplement will have to be approved either by the insurance adjuster and/or the customer before the additional work is performed. All additional work (no matter how insignificant) must be billed for with no exceptions.
  • Must be able to collect all progress payments from your customers. Upon collection of the final draw, it is required to obtain a signed certificate of completion (COS) from customer and this way to close the file. (One copy of COS goes to the bookkeeper’s master file for safe keeping).

Requirements/Experience:

  • Candidate must have 3-5 years’ experience in the Restoration/Reconstruction industry.
  • Estimator will be familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with Xactimate, Microsoft Word and Excel and other SM Computer programs as necessary.
