Senior Designer

Reports To: Design Team Director or Branch Design Director

Basic Job Functions: Design and manage projects and ensure budgets are met with focus on company profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of color and material presentations.
  • Product research and vendor communication.
  • AutoCAD base building input.
  • Input of furniture layouts and spaceplans into Cap
    Studio.
  • Input of construction and demolition drawings into AutoCAD.
  • Translations from other CAD systems to the current  network system used by the company.
  • Ability to work with other software such as Timeslips, Microsoft Windows, and Lotus Notes
  • Job file maintenance per CAD manual and company standards.
  • Field verification and measurement of a site, both new & existing.
  • Spaceplanning, typical development, and systems furniture layout.
  • Product take-off, specifications of systems and conventional product.
  • Development of installation drawings.
  • Full application of Codes and ADA requirements for a given project.
  • Full application of Electrical and Data for a given project.
  •  Meet with clients.
  • Organize meeting notes and correspondence to pass on to team members.
  • Set up project files.
  • Develop conceptual design and block planning for a project.
  • Develop details for casework and customer furniture  details.
  • Ability to inventory all products and assimilate information unassisted.
  • Coordination and management of multiple projects.
  • Define the scope of a project, assessing customer needs and programming design applications.
  • Developing comprehensive design contracts and establishing scope of project.
  • Delegating work load to supporting team members as required and scheduling of that work.
  • Marketing and design presentations in conjunction with sales.
  • Ultimate responsibility for deadlines.
  • Calculation and quoting of installation man-hours and communication of project knowledge for installation.

Salary Commensurate with Experience.

Experience, Education, and Skills Required:

  • Graduate of a four-year program with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or similar industry.
  • Portfolio exhibits training in spaceplanning, AutoCAD, color and material coordination, and basic design theory.
  • Working towards or have attained NCIDQ testing and a membership in a professional organization.
  • Minimum five years experience working in the Design field.
  • Contract Furniture Industry background preferred.
  • Responsible individual, knowledgeable of the full design process.
  • Self starter who is highly motivated and politically astute.
  • Demonstrate presence of person in a professional position in manner, dress, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Has strong customer service attitude and manner; communicates easily and clearly. Is polite and cordial in all customer interactions.
  • Is highly responsive to customer requests.
  • Understands customer satisfaction focus of design and consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations.
