Sr. R & D RF / Microwave Engineer – Wireless

One of the leading manufacturers of RF and Microwave filters is looking for a Sr. R & D RF/Microwave Engineer.

The candidate will be a member of the company’s core design team, leading the design of RF/Wireless test and measurement equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop state of the art designs to meet market needs.
  • Make successful recommendations regarding technology development, meeting market requirements and design cost targets.
  • Lead and coach more junior engineers at the circuit design level. The candidate should be a self-starter and require minimum supervision.

Education

  • BSEE or equivalent required with 8+ years direct experience in development, design and support of RF/Microwave circuits and products.
  • MSEE with 10 years experience preferred.

Skill Requirements:

  • Must have RF Microwave theory and design experience.
  • Must be proficient in either Agilent ADS or Eagleware Gensys for the design of microstrip/stripline/GCPWG filters, couplers, amplifiers etc on PCB materials at frequencies up to and beyond 10 GHz.
  • Must understand and be able to design low noise VCO’s and PLL circuits in the 1-10 GHz range. Must understand Fractional N synthesis.
  • Must have system level experience in designing low noise high dynamic range frequency converters on printed circuit boards. Must have hands-on experience with synthesizer-based RF/Microwave designs including multi-loop PLLs.
  • Must understand frequency mixers and all their associated pitfalls.
  • Must be a hands-on person. Must know how to design, bring-up and troubleshoot RF/Microwave problems and circuits from DC to 20 GHz.
  • Experience with related digital control or signal processing hardware is desirable. (FPGA/CPLD and DSP filter/system design experience). Familiarity with programming CPLDs and understanding DSP filter design at a minimum.
  • Must have worked on microwave designs where extremely low cost as well as high performance was required.
  • Must understand how to introduce a product that may be manufactured overseas.
  • Must have experience in radio transmitter and receiver or test and measurement products.
  • Must be able to guide imbedded firmware engineers in implementing code to control RF and digital hardware.
  • Must have proven track record of quality products developed in short time frame schedules.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to work in a startup like environment.
