Superintendent – Public Works

The superintendent is responsible for the daily operation of the construction job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. Manages and oversees any contracted work on the site to ensure project completion. A project’s success is a direct reflection of the superintendent’s management abilities with motivating workers and trade contractors.

This individual shall be forward thinking and energetic, have strong analytical ability, have high ethical standards, and have good communication skills. The superintendent shall promote the company’s objectives and goals through the performance of his/her job, meeting quality and safety standards. The superintendent shall work collaboratively and effectively with the project manager throughout the project.

Duties include:

  • Review and analyze drawings, specifications, contracts, and other documents.
  • Maintain a complete set of up-to-date contract drawings and specifications.
  • Create and distribute two-week look ahead schedules to subcontractors and work with project manager to update the detailed project schedule.
  • Provide daily progress photos, field issues, manpower and incidents as required for proper documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage all inspections required by local agencies and building departments.
  • Ability to coordinate means and methods to expedites schedule and reduce costs.
  • Manage the punch list and project closeout process to assure a timely completion.
  • Administer and document weekly subcontractor coordination meeting a toolbox safety meetings.
  • Promote the growth and development of subcontractor, client, and designer relationships.
  • Public and construction safety and security issues and regulations.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and Higher.
  • 4 years degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred
  • 3 years of public work construction experience in project over $3M is a must
  • Good knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, line and grade (survey), Computer savvy and Fluent in English. Spanish a plus.
