VP of Engineering

We are the experts in solid-state, high-power RF amplifiers serving the wireless, testing, and instrumentation industries, and we are looking for a VP of Engineering.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, this senior leadership team position with input into the company’s strategy and growth will:

  • Partner with CEO on the long-term technology roadmap.
  • Create and lead design efforts, tactics and strategies that impact costs. Drive costs out of products through innovative designs.
  • Establish and maintain internal design reviews and guidelines for product development and engineering designs.
  • Develop and analyze all elements related to the Document Control Process. Design and implement process changes that address all process opportunities (e.g., CDR’s; PDR’s standardization of drawings, etc.).
  • Establish goals, objectives, performance metrics and initiatives of the product engineering department to meet corporate objectives.
  • Ensure engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with the organizations established policies and objectives.
  • Closely interacts with Sales, Research and Development, Operations and Finance to ensure manufacturability of designs.
  • Coordinates activities with product engineering counterpart in company RF Systems to ensure unified global product line design strategy and activities.
  • Primary customer interface with respect to product engineering activities associated with support of Sales, Research and
  • Development and Operations.

Essential Functions

An experienced engineer with hands-on RF/Microwave product design, development, documentation and project management with expertise in RF Microwave High Power Amplifiers and Modules.

  • Guide and take ownership of respective engineering tasks.
  • Provide support and mentoring with the continued growth of a highly skilled engineering staff.
  • Plan and allocate appropriate engineering resources for projects and provide scheduling, man-power, asset allocation, budgets and estimates to complete [ETC’s].
  • Drive results through inspired leadership and accountability with a focused and disciplined approach to product development consistent with best practices in the company and the industry.
  • Interface and communicate with customers to solidify a “team” relationship along with resolving technical and programmatic issues.
  • Empower team members to achieve their best through collaboration and achievement of common goals.
  • Establish best in class product engineering processes including documentation control, change order control and stage gate development.
  • Manage day-to-day work, as well as long-term planning of the product engineering function into a productive, cohesive unit.
  • Establish design controls for ISO.
  • Deliver manufacturable designs to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints.
  • Foster innovative solutions that meet/exceed customer needs.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and rapid growth environment and to attract and retain top talent.

  • Minimum BS; MS strongly preferred in either EE or ME.
  • 10 plus years experience leading and directing product engineering staff, project and program management.
  • 5+ years of hands on experience in the design and manufacture of complex products utilizing RF/Microwave technology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a variety of engineering concepts and practices which include, strong design engineering experience as well as a good understanding of microwave/RF electrical requirements.
  • Demonstrated success record in the deployment of high quality, cost effective military and commercial products to the market through an innovative, schedule driven development process.
  • Demonstrated skills and success in cross functional program management and in managing simultaneous projects of varying complexities on time and on budget.
  • Record of achieving objectives; successful project completion, within budget and time frame.
  • Development reference to product roadmap: demonstrated peripheral vision; designing for specific needs, but with wider applications in mind.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, Korean language fluency preferred.
  • “Player/Coach” management approach, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Proven ability to act as a change agent in a dynamic, fluid environment.

Candidate MUST have high power solid state amplifier & transmitter experience. Candidate MUST be a hands-on manager…MUST have a player/coach mentality…A doer not a delegator.
